This article walks through the capabilities that come with being an administrator. There are two articles that exist that specifically apply to the communications feature, those are listed here in two parts: part 1 and part 2.
The other two main feature sets of being an admin are access to the administration page and being able to configure campaign settings.
Administration Page
All admins have access to the administration page.
Here you can add and edit users. When adding users, make sure not to use any punctuation in their forwarding phone number. You can also add permissions to your users for anything they should have access to.
Always click "save details" when you're done.
You can also edit campaign settings as an admin. Navigate to the campaign's page and click on the settings symbol in the upper middle of the page.
Here you have a few options for the settings you can adjust.
The default send hour is for minutely and hourly campaigns only. This does not affect daily or immediate campaigns. The same goes for blackout start and end hours: these only affect hourly or minutely campaigns. They do not affect direct messages, daily campaigns, send at a specific date and time campaigns, or immediate campaigns.
The time zone is very important! This will establish the time across your entire institution.
You can establish the number of messages a student receives from campaigns per day and per hour. This does not affect advisor or department direct messages, as many of those can get sent as desired for conversation. You can set these here to make sure that your students don't get overwhelmed with messages throughout the day.
The next two pieces are automated messages.
Opt Out
The opt out message goes out to all students whenever they receive an initial message from that number or channel. More information on opt out messages here. You can edit this message but, legally, it must contain the following elements:
- Inform the recipient of who the message is coming from
- Let them know that message and data rates may apply
- Quantify about how many messages the recipient can expect
- Teach the recipient how to unsubscribe from messages
Auto Response
This is a generic, institution-wide auto response that you can schedule to go out on a daily basis. This will only come from departments, your direct messages with students will not be affected by the institution auto response. Some institutions set up this feature every Friday and set the time to be midnight to midnight so that their students receive this message over the weekend. Just make sure you turn it back off Monday morning!
The last section is the Nudge to Mobile message. If your institution doesn't have a mobile app, feel free to stop reading here!
The is a message that will go out to students that do not yet have the mobile app and are only receiving text messages from our system. This feature will add the nudge message as a second message, encouraging the student to download the mobile app.
This will only be on campaign messages, this will not affect direct messages with students.
That's all! Please feel free to create a ticket if you have any questions.
