Ever see a message from a guest student that looks spammy or inappropriate? First of all, we're sorry you had to read that. Second, and more importantly, there is no reason to worry that these messages could also go out to your students in a way that would be associated to your institution.
Sometimes the numbers that we use for messaging get caught under spam bots and they can then send messages that end up in our interface. We recommend having all users that received these messages to text back "STOP", so they can opt out of those messages the same way users can opt out of Fullmeasure messages.
Since Fullmeasure owns these numbers, that is why we can see the responses in the interface. If you received a spam text on your personal number, you would see it on your phone. The spam is coming from a number completely outside of our twilio (our SMS provider) account and Fullmeasure system; there is not much we can do to stop these spam messages from texting the numbers that we own except to hope that they get blocked by the carrier. It is impossible for guest numbers, or any student numbers for that matter, to send out messages to other students through our system.
Students would never receive spam from our numbers. I'm sure they are receiving spam messages from other sources, as we all do occasionally, but that is completely external to the Fullmeasure system.
