Auto responses
You can use auto responses for when, if a student sends a specific phrase, the system will respond back with an automated message. These can be configured at the institution level. To get started, click on the icon that says 'Auto Response'.
From this page, you can see all auto responses that have been created, and create new ones by clicking the blue fab button in the upper right corner.
Let's click on that button to get started!
The first item on this form is naming your auto response. Make sure to name it something will have meaning and context to you and the rest of your team. This message will be automatically configured to send from you as an advisor. Next you can configure the word you would like the auto response to be triggered by.
Under "Response" is where you configure the message to send automatically after the student has texted in the key word. This should follow the same conventions as a traditional SMS, please try to keep this message under 160 characters so it is not broken into multiple segments. There is a preview for this message on the right side so you can see how your message will appear.
Once you are finished configuring your message, click save!
To activate your message, navigate back to the Auto Response screen. Find your message in the drafts tab, and click activate.
When you are ready to stop your auto response, you can deactivate it from the activated tab or you can edit the auto response and click "deactivate and archive"
Attached is documentation that has more screenshots in case you want to see more on how to create and activate auto responses.
We made a video! This video was done when Auto Response was called 'Chat Bot', but the functionality remains the same.
